RMDT's view remains that for New Zealanders to achieve a lasting respect for each other, we need to adopt a roll-up-sleeves approach to working together for a better society, that involves practical cooperation and a charitable spirit in all our endeavours - volunteer or not. It's this sort of purposeful yet generous engagement that will achieve our ideal community - including both people and place. And for those who prefer to stand back, that's fine, but the more arm-chair you are, the less of a critic you should be!
Our public forum has been revived! Feel free to restart any contributions or suggestions you have.
*** FINAL JOINING DATE EXTENDED: LAST CHANCE TO JOIN IS NOW ON Sun 27th September, 7:30PM (FOLLOWING SUNSET PRAYER; SAME VENUE; Retreat to the rear of the Masjid after Maghrib salaat.***

Imam al-Ghazzali's "Ayyuhal-Walad" - A 9 week Study Circle
Join us every Friday evening in this beautiful 9 week Study Circle commencing from the 16th of October.
Imam al-Ghazzali is famous in both Eastern & Western philsophy for amongst other things greatly influencing European scholars such as St Thomas Acquinas and others though his masterful thinking and rational analyses and critiques.
Written towards the end of his life, this 'Letter to a Disciple' was an 11th century composition by Imam al-Ghazzali, in response to a request by one of his students that the Imam write a concise summary of all his teachings.
The letter to the disciple, which he entitled "Ayyuhal-Walad" , literally meaning "O, Son", is a deep reflection as advice on acquiring knowledge for spiritual benefit, purifying one's intention and acting on the basis of the sound knowledge acquired.
This Study circle will explore the advice given by Imam al-Ghazzali in the context of it applying to us today in the 21st century.
This study circle is hosted by RMDT in collaboration with Al-Ghazzali Center in Sydney from where the study circle is broadcast. We will be able to send questions to Sydney for answering at the next lesson, so inquisitive interaction, albeit delayed, is encouraged.
Cost: $5 per session to cover hand out costs (notes).
Registration: Please quickly register on our events page. This will enable you to receive venue details by email.
For any queries please feel free to email us learn@rmdt.org.nz
NB All sessions are open to everyone, whether attendees of previous sessions or not.
An Ecology Rihla to Samoa!

Greetings,
Sincere thanks to all those volunteers, participants and presenters who contributed to a highly successful Cultural Training Workshop at St Columba Centre, Ponsonby on April 29/30.
Apart from those who are awaiting the next introductory workshop, there have been numerous requests for specialised cultural training coming out of the recent workshop, which we will endeavour to fit into the the 2009-2010 program. Requests at this stage are being targeted for supply by the end of 2009.
Currently, the trust is considering requests in the areas of specialised cultural training (sector or organisation-specific), policy development (all sectors) and advanced cultural training for policy and governance. Due to some urgency being placed on specialised training, the 2nd introductory workshop will now be deferred from the original June date to later this year (date TBA).
Organisations requiring legal services ancillary to and integrated with training or policy development simply need indicate such a requirement when contacting us.
Please use the Contact Us page for an Expression of Interest form, after which we can begin to tailor a possible solution for your organisation. The quickest way to receive one is by emailing us a request to email it back to you.
RMDT.
Here are a few images from the workshop
[Registrations closed early with 70 people from nearly 50 different organisations registering.
To the many who missed out, please contact us with your details so that your interest can be used to host another such workshop later this year.
Many thanks for your interest.
RMDT.]
